Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment
The University of Kentucky, the Commonwealth’s flagship institution, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, including administrative leadership of the Agricultural Experiment Station and the Cooperative Extension Service.
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment has a comprehensive land-grant mission, including instruction in diverse degree programs from the bachelor’s to doctoral level. The College includes one of the best supported, most innovative statewide extension programs in the country, multiple nationally recognized research programs, and a reputation for instructional excellence and undergraduate success. Student enrollments include 2,500 undergraduates and 430 master’s and doctoral students. The departments conduct extension programs and wide-ranging applied and fundamental research in plant, animal, natural resources, and the social sciences. The Cooperative Extension Service has offices in all 120 counties with county agents in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, and 4-H.
The Dean is expected to provide strong leadership in strategic and program planning, promote excellence among its faculty and staff, manage the college's financial and human resources, take a primary role in fundraising and interface with government agencies. The Dean is expected to assume a highly visible and influential leadership position within the diverse agricultural and natural resource communities in Kentucky. As the chief executive officer of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment the Dean reports directly to the Provost.
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate and an outstanding record in research, education, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment as Professor with tenure in an area of specialization offered by the College. A record of administrative leadership and strong entrepreneurial skills are required.
